Mr. Albert L. Johnson, age 94 of Ellijay, passed peacefully on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Johnson was born in Vardaman, Mississippi to the late Snyder Saydoc Johnson and the late Eva Pearl Simons Johnson.

Albert "Al" proudly served our nation in the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Officer. He retired after twenty-four years of military service. Al continued his career as a contractor for Northrop working for five years in Saudi Arabia. Upon his return to the U.S., he began a new career in real estate and home building, eventually settling in Ellijay, Georgia.

Al was a long time resident of Ellijay and a member of the Hope Lutheran Church.

He stayed physically active all his life and enjoyed traveling, dancing, gardening, bird watching and spending time with family & friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Long, and grandson, Jade Long.

Survivors include his loving wife, Trudy Johnson; daughter, Gail Smith; granddaughter, Leah Newth; grandsons, Elis Smith, Mason Smith, Levi Long, and Will Long, 10 great-grandchildren and many loving extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023 at 12:30 p.m.

A "Celebration of Life & Memorial Service" will be held at the Hope Lutheran Church details to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hope Lutheran Church in Ellijay.
