Aline J.
Nealey
Nov 17, 1932 — May 18, 2025
Ellijay
Mrs. Aline J. Nealey, age 92, of Ellijay, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Aline was born on November 17, 1932, in Cherokee County, Georgia, to the late Rev. Herbert and Pluma Farist Chastain. She graduated from Cass High School in Cartersville, Georgia, and went on to dedicate over 40 years of faithful service working alongside Medical Doctor, Robert Mainor, in his medical office in Smyrna. As the devoted wife of a preacher, she poured her heart into ministry, spending countless days and nights in church, visiting the sick, encouraging others, praying, and wholeheartedly supporting her husband's (Rev. Milton Nealey) calling. She was the steady backbone of her family, a constant source of strength, compassion, and unwavering faith. She was a devoted member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Milton Nealey, her second husband, Lloyd Baughn, her twin sister Christine Chastain Smith, her sister Carolyn Chastain O'Dell, and her brother Rev. Clyde Chastain.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Donnie) Piel of Douglasville, GA, and her son, Terry (Teri) Nealey of Ellijay, GA; her sister Dorothy (Lloyd) Cain of Ellijay and her brother Claude Chastain of Ellijay. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her five grandchildren: Heather (Josh) Davis, Andrea (Jonathan) Carver, Andy (Candice) Piel, Jessica (Angelo) Nealey, and Nick (Jessie) Nealey, and her cherished great-grandchildren: Luke Crump, Kimberly Harper, Tabitha Hunter, Abigail Harper, Amberlynne Davis, Clint Carver, Kadence Piel, Ainslee Nealey, Lily Carver, Raylon Nealey, and Bobby Milton Nealey. Several neices and nephews also survive.
Aline was a faithful and humble servant of the Lord, a devoted soldier for Christ whose life was a radiant testimony of His love. She walked with God daily, and her prayers brought hope, healing, and encouragement to countless others. If you ever needed a prayer to reach heaven, you called Aline. Her conversations often turned back to the goodness of the Lord, and she was never shy to shout, "Glory! Bless His holy name!"
She was a pillar of faith and an inspiration to all who knew her. Aline led many souls to Christ and was known for singing His praises and encouraging others in their walk with God. Her love for her family was immeasurable. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her immense joy. She found delight in the simple things; espcially walking, the beach, traveling, and she found peace in the beauty of God's creation.. especially in "God's Country," as she often called Ellijay. She was always full of fun, laughter, and ready to hit the road at a moments notice to go shopping.
Even in the final years of her life, as she faced the challenges of dementia, Aline never forgot the Lord or the day He saved her soul. She held tightly to the knowledge of how richly God had blessed her and never lost sight of His goodness. In one final, beautiful gift of grace, just days before she passed, the Lord allowed her to see her family—and she knew them all. It was a true and tender blessing from the Lord.
