Mrs. Barbara Jean Milton, age 69, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

Mrs. Milton was born on May 28, 1957, in Gilmer County, Georgia, to the late F.B. Chastain and Bonnie Goble Chastain. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and especially loved flowers, with roses being her favorite. She also enjoyed observing wildlife, and black bears held a special place among her favorite animals. Green was her favorite color, reflecting her love for the outdoors. Above all, Mrs. Melton cherished her family and treasured the time she spent with them.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Cathelene Chastain, Judy Thomas, Marie Nicholson, Emilee Blankenship, Betty Hamrick and Rosie Burton.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Milton; sons, Edward James Lecompte, Eric Lecompte, and Randy Shumate; brother, Eddie Chastain; sisters, Glenda Ridings, Gail Queen, Tracy Brown, and Charlene Bunch; and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, June 14th at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Brother Paul Vallejos officiating. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Bryan Mathews, Gary Mathews, Jacob Mathews, Randy Shumate, Eric Lecompte, and Dawson Ridings. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 13th from 4 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home.

Flowers and Food will be accepted.
