Mrs. Betty Hicks Burnette, age 84 of Ellijay, passed away on Friday, January 12th, 2024 at her daughter's home.
Mrs. Burnette was born on August 9th, 1939 to the late William Roy Hicks and the late Ellen Loise Bryson Hicks. Betty was a librarian for the Gilmer County Schools System. She loved to play the piano, read books, and loved her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burnette is preceded in death by her loving husband, William H. "Billy" Burnette; daughter, Teri Ellen Gibson, sister, Eloise Pritchett and two brothers Ralph and Leon Hicks.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brett (Stephanie) Burnette; daughter, Paula Holder; son-in-law, Jeff Gibson, five grandchildren, Holli Totherow, Candace Poole, Baylee Burnette, Bethany Burnette, and Bree Burnette, and one great-grandchild, Cooper Poole also survive.
A Private Graveside Service for the family will be held on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at the family home with Rev. John Reece and Rev. Larry Stover officiating. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Issac Hensley, Lee Hensley, Tyler Rosenack, Keith Holloway, Justin Stover, and David Keener.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
The family respectfully asks that no food or flowers be brought to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Billy Burnette FFA Scholarship Fund at the Pickens Community Bank in Jasper, GA.
