Mrs. Betty Janes Freeman, 90, of Ellijay, formerly of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on January 2, 1933 in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Olen Clifton and Madge Townsend Janes. Betty was raised on Dorsey St. in Gainesville, GA. She was a Christian who loved to read her Bible. She was a member of New Haven Congregational Holiness Church in Gainesville.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her infant, Joy Tankersley; her husband, Andy J. Tankersley in 1959; her husband, Ed Freeman in 1997 and former husband, Randall Little in 2004; brothers, Nicholas Janes in Vietnam War, Billy Janes and Bobby Janes all of Gainesville.

Betty is survived by her children, Reverend Andy Jeff Tankersley (Andrea) of Cleveland, Daniel Tankersley (Martha) of Woodstock, Donna Tankersley Vickers (Dan Vickers, deceased) of Blairsville, Sheree Little Ralston (David Ralston, deceased) of Ellijay, Kim Little McVey (Brannon) of Ellijay; grandchildren, Stephen and Chris Tankersley, Lee Tankersley, Todd Tankersley, Leah McDade, Chris Vickers, Katie Colwell, Eric Bradburn, Erin Bradburn, Brandon Long and Lauren Dubois; great grandchildren, Olivia, Isabella, Emma, Caleb, Anna, Levi, Jacob, Abby, Molly Logan, Layla, Myla, Michael, John, Mary, Evan, Will, Josie, Paisley, Mackenzie, Tyson, Westin and Graham; sister in law, Dot Janes of Gainesville and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
