Betty Rose Hadley passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 after celebrating her 92nd birthday surrounded by friends and love beyond measure.
Betty was born on May 25, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland to Charles Spurgeon Benson and Jeannette Elizabeth (Trexler) Benson. Betty grew up in Maryland and moved to Salisbury, North Carolina around 1947. The Hadleys later moved to Marietta, Georgia where they raised their sons. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband John Herbert Hadley and her oldest son, John Stephen "Steve" Hadley. She is survived by her son Charles Michael "Mike" Hadley, her grandson John Michael Hadley, and her two great grandsons John Michael Hadley Jr. and Oliver Kellan Hadley. Betty is also survived by her longtime best friend (47 years), Martha C. Pierce as well as Martha's family who have always considered Betty as their "Aunt Betty;" Chelsea (Clayton) Gibson and their children who have all ensured that Betty was loved and cared for since her son Steve's passing in November of 2023.
Betty Rose was an amazing mother to her boys and grandson throughout their raising all while having a career in Communications throughout her life. Betty was a communications operator for West Paces, where she met Martha in January 1977 and they worked elbow to elbow for over 20 years in Atlanta. Betty enjoyed traveling and to be at the beach as well as caring for many dogs of hers and other animals throughout the years. She was an animal lover and truly the most precious person many have and will ever have known.
The memories we all have of Betty Rose will forever be cherished. Betty's friends ask that as you mourn her loss and for the years to come that we celebrate memories with her and remember that she is where she wanted to be, with her baby boy, her little Stevie and her parents.
