Mrs. Brenda Lee Newton 78, of Ellijay, GA, died Sunday, February 16, 2025. She was born August 19, 1946, in Gilmer County to the late William Lloyd and Lucille Wright Rice.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Newton; parents, William and Lucille Rice; son, Jeffery Charles Spivey, and sisters, Joan Davenport, Kathleen Cruse, and Linda Weaver.

She worked in the carpet industry and then later, at White Columns Restaurant with her daughter, Denise for 24 years. She loved going to Harrah's and loved to ride the back roads of Gilmer County "looking for deer" with her friends.

Brenda is survived by her siblings, Barbara Long, Larry Rice, and Vivian Callahan; her children, Sharon Nelson (Michael), Janet Sandway (Greg), Denise Rogers (Jimmy); Stepchildren, Freida Stover (Jerry), Linda Davenport (Robert); Grandchildren, Constance Nicklien, Carrie Scott, Vanessa Shirley, Hallie Rathod, Macy Highland, Jacob Teague, Caleb Teague, Bobby Teague, Jeremy and Joshua Stover, Amanda, and Teairlton Davenport and many great-grandchildren. She was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Chastain and Rev. Jerry Banks officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. Pall Bearers are Jacob Teague, Caleb Teague, Jai Rathod, Justin Scott, and Miles Burnett. Honorary pall bearers are Michael Nelson, Greg Sandway, and Jimmy Rogers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM until the 2:00 PM service on Friday.

Food and flowers will be accepted in memory of Mrs. Brenda Lee Newton.
