Captain, Charles Lecrone Shillito, passed away on September 18, 2024 in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Son of Charles Malcolm Shillito and Patricia Marie Lecrone Shillito, he was born in York, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1944. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Shillito; his mother, Patricia L. Shillito, and his brother John Edger Shillito.

He is survived by sister, Judy (Dennis) Robichaud ,niece Regina (Ryan) Mayo, nephew Tyler, niece Ashley Mayo, sister Linda Cross, niece Jessica Cross, brother Noel (Laurie) Shillito, nephew Luke Shillito, nephew Tyler (Traci) Shillito, cousins Charlie & Carolyn Shillito, niece Jenny (Brandon) Sizemore, cousin Nathan and Caleb Sizemore, niece Kelly (Brett) Scott, cousin Kate and Vivian, nephew Kyle (Rachel) Shillito, nephew Todd Shillito, niece Whitney Shillito, cousin Stepanie Black, cousins Traci Mullen, Jonelle, Kelly and Jay Mullen. Aunt Barbara (Tom) Broschard, cousins Allyson & Tommy Brochard.

Charles grew up on Long Island, New York. Proud Eagle Scout, he enjoyed the outdoors. He attended Bayport High School, was on the Varsity Cross Country team, played baseball, and basketball, and was elected as editor-in-chief of the Daemon school newspaper. In 1961 his family moved to Puerto Rico, graduated from Commonwealth High School, attended the University of Michigan, graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, in ROTC Air Force, trained in Texas and Washington. 1969-1971 McCord AFB Tacoma Washington, C-41 Transport Line Pilot. 1971-1973 CCK AFB, Taichung, Republic of China fly C-130 transport aircraft commander Captain. Over 1,200 hours of combat fly, with over 13 successful sorties a day in Viet Nam. Supplying prisoner movement, evacuation, cargo drops, reconnaissance, medical relief. Viet Nam: received Basic and First Oak Leaf Cluster for Meritorious Achievement in aerial flight. Flew Thailand, Indochina, South Vietnam, Cambodia and Korea, received Distinguished Flying Cross, outstanding airmanship and courage under extremely hazardous conditions.

After service, Charles became a real estate executive and director of sales for TIRI in Puerto Rico. In 1997 he moved to Florida and was top salesman for Germain Toyota in Bonita Springs. In 2022 Charles moved to Georgia to be close to his sister, Judy (Dennis) Robichaud. After a courageous fight with Alzheimer's, he passed peacefully on September 18, 2024. A quiet, gentle man with devilish humor, a punster, a love of cats, tunes of the 60's, and comic books, Civil War buff. Big Brother is irreplaceable. Charles will be buried in the GA National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on November 1st 2024 at 11:30am with honors to be conducted by the Unites States Air Force.
