Ms. Caroline Hughes, age 77 of Ellijay, passed away Thursday, July 28 ^th , 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital of Jasper.

Ms. Hughes was born on July 4 ^th , 1945 in Rockwood, Tennessee to the late Carl Clowers and Phyllis McElroy. She was a healthcare worker and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her husband, A.J. Hughes.

Survivors include her mother, Phyllis McElroy of Lawrenceville; three sons, Tommy Edens of Ellijay, Tim Edens of Tyler, TX, and Brian Edens of Texas; two daughters, Charlotte Kitchen of Ellijay and Jodie Edens of Dalton; five brothers, Tommy McElroy of New York, Danny McElroy of Alabama, Mitchell McElroy of Kentucky, Greg McElroy of Virginia, and Alan McElroy of Georgia; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30 ^th at 5:00 PM from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Dalton Morrow and Rev. Benny Watson officiating.

To honor Ms. Hughes' wishes, she will be cremated following the funeral service, and interment will be at Yukon Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30 ^th at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the funeral hour.

The family will be accepting flowers but respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
