Carolyn
Baker
Mar 10, 1944 — Sep 7, 2023
Ellijay
Mrs. Carolyn Frances Tiefenthal Baker, 79, of Ellijay, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023, with her husband, Richard, and daughter, Heather, by her side.
Carolyn was born on March 10, 1944, in Boston to Fred R. and Frances Ambrose Tiefenthal. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard: daughter, Heather; sister, Linda Noviello; brother-in-law, John; nephews, Jonathan and Damien; nieces, Jennifer Maloney and Marnie Goldstein; two stepdaughters, Dawn Wolf and Kelly Holman; numerous cousins; and many other loved family members and friends also survive.
Carolyn met Richard on a trip to Japan in 1972, and the two were married within a year. Together, they lived in various places around the world, including Japan, Italy, Spain, and, for many years, Marietta, Georgia. They settled in Ellijay 23 years ago. Carolyn loved to travel, visiting Russia, Belize, Guatemala, Tanzania, China, Newfoundland, numerous other countries, and all 50 states.
Carolyn adored all animals and, throughout her life, shared her home and heart with many cats and dogs. Her beloved kitties, Ashes and Soot, survive her, and it is obvious that they miss her very much.
In the words of her sister: "We had many good times together as sisters. When Heather was born there was no other baby in the world, yes, she adored her. My love goes to her, and she will be missed."
No services is planned.
