Mr. Charles Gordon Postell, age 92 of Ellijay, went home to be with the Lord on April 4, 2025.

Charles, or "Charlie" to his family and friends, was born on January 15, 1933 in Higdon, Georgia (Fannin County) to the late Oscar Gordon Postell and the late Lottie McArthur Postell.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Lorene Jones Postell, brothers J.D., Winford,  Howard, Wendall, and Donald Postell.

He is survived by his daughers, Angelia Postell and Lottie (Paul) Mitchell of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Lindsay (Drew) Collins and Abbie Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ellie Collins; sister, Beulah Watson, brothers Lealon (Anna Lou) and Ray (Carolyn) Postell; sisters in-law, Kathleen Dilbeck, Shelby Patterson and Bettye Chastain, and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie grew up in the Higdon community of Fannin County. A proud veteran, he served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home in 1956, he married the love of his life, Lorene, and together they moved to Indiana, where Charlie worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tubing.

After 13 years in Indiana, Charlie and Lorene returned home to Fannin County, where he continued his hardworking legacy as a Crew Leader and Foreman at City Services Company, Copperhill, TN, for two decades. In the later years of his career, he served as a Maintenance Supervisor at Diamond Carpet.

Charlie was a man who loved to stay busy—whether he was tending to his garden or working on one of his many projects. But more than anything, he loved his family and his church. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Charlie always put his family first. He was incredibly proud of his daughters, and his granddaughters and great-grandchildren brought him endless joy. He was dependable and deeply loving—someone his family could always count on for support, wisdom, and unconditional love.

Charlie was also a faithful servant of the Lord. He served as a deacon at Liberty Baptist Church and lived his life grounded in faith. His life was a testimony to the goodness of a Godly man, and he has left a beautiful legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will live on through all who knew him.

Mr. Postell will lie-in-state, and the family will receive visitors at Bernhardt Funeral Home on Saturday, April 5th from  4:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from the Liberty Baptist Church of Ellijay with Rev. John Reece officiating and prayer by Rev. David Nicholson.  Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with final words by Rev. Jerry Banks. The church will provide a meal following the committal in the church fellowship hall. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Hank Postell, Neal Watson, Matthew Patterson, Bobby Abercrombie, Jonathan Carver, and Rick Bryan.
