Charles Spencer
Mabry
Sep 12, 1987 — Sep 22, 2025
Ellijay
Charles Spencer Mabry, 38, of Ellijay, passed away on September 22, 2025.
Spencer was born September 12, 1987 in Dunwoody, Ga., the son of Charles Burton Mabry, (deceased mother) Nancy Savage Mabry, and (stepmother) Linda D. Mabry. He attended A Gathering Place Ministry with a very special friend, Nicole Difiglio.
Spencer loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker. He was always ready to grab a tent and head into the wilderness, with friends in tow. A serious forager with knowledge of many plants in the woods. He eagerly awaited the first chanterelles each spring and cooking up his forest bounty.
Spending his early years in the Buford area, Spencer was surrounded by many accomplished artists. A very creative young man, one of his many talents was seen in his leathering skills, handed down from the Mabry family dating back to the 40's. For several years, Spencer was engaged in cosplay, creating costumes for themed events as recently as the Renaissance Festival.
Though of small stature, this young man had a huge heart and was loved by everyone who had a chance to encounter his infectiously warm smile. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Though he had no children of his own, he was bestowed the honor of being a godfather to many of his friends' children.
Spencer loved animals, and they loved him. From an early age, he surrounded himself with, not only domestic but wild animals, a "Doctor Dolittle", which continued throughout his life. He leaves behind dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, an opossum, and a chicken hawk. He will be greatly missed, not only by humans but also by his furry friends.
He leaves behind Joe Mabry (uncle), Andrew Nalley (uncle), Arthur Nalley (uncle), numerous nieces and nephews, and two stepbrothers.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4th at 1pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10am until the service hour at 1pm.
