Mr. Charles "Charlie" Gibson, age 66 of Whittier, NC, formerly of Ellijay, passed away on Monday, January 8th, 2024 in Calhoun.

Mr. Gibson was born on August 5th, 1957, in Ellijay, to the late Alvin Gibson and Emma Clampet Gibson. Everybody knew Charlie. He lived in Ellijay his whole life. Mr. Gibson was a giver and loved helping others. His family was his life, and he loved the Lord. Mr. Gibson served in the United States Army and later drove a truck for West Block for over 35 years. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibson is preceded in death by his brother, J.V. Gibson.

Survivors include his son, Gerald Gibson of Ellijay; two brothers, Ray (Judy) Gibson of Ellijay and James (Carolyn) Gibson of Ellijay; six sisters, Marice Grizzle of Calhoun, Faye Lerch of Ellijay, Onita Harrison of Gainesville, Christine (Gary) Walker of Chatsworth, Emily Daniels of Chatsworth, and Kathleen (Mike) Weiss of Calhoun; and six grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11th at 2:00 PM from Flat Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Pat Shelton and Rev. Danny Townsend officiating. Music will be performed by Rev. Pat Shelton and Cathy Taylor. Interment will follow in the Flat Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Phillip Bentley, Barry Copeland, Daniel Copeland, Chad West, Josh Bryant, and Terry Green.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 10th from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Flowers and food will be accepted in memory of Mr. Charlie Gibson.
