Mrs. Cheryl Chancey Smith, age 70 of Ellijay, passed away Saturday, December 31st, 2022 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Mrs. Smith was born on October 18th, 1952 in Blue Ridge to the late Ralph Chancey and Irene Holloway Chancey. She was the valedictorian at Gilmer High School, Class of 1970. Mrs. Smith worked in the school system, including Ellijay Primary, for many years. She was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Cheryl loved the Lord, her children, and her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Smith; two sons, Jeremy Smith (Brianne) and Jamie Smith (Georgia); daughter, Jenni Sellers (Jeremy); two brothers, Gerald Chancey and Johnny Chancey; two sisters, Dianne Holt and Melanie Cantrell; and six grandchildren, Garrett (Kaylin) Sellers, Bryson (Sadie) Smith, Taylor Sellers, Lauren Smith, Addison Smith, and Pete Smith also survives.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 2:00 from Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Chastain and Rev. Casey Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Garrett Sellers, Bryson Smith, Chad Miller, Kevin Holt, Frank McClure, and Michael Cantrell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4th from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Food and flowers will be accepted in memory of Mrs. Cheryl Smith.
