Clinton Newbert Ellis, age 91 of Cumming, GA, passed from the Earth on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022.

Born on December 7 ^th 1930 in Gilmer County, the son of Millard C. and Viola Weaver Ellis. He was an Ellijay High School Graduate Class of 1948. He was a corporal in the US Army and served during the Korean War. After returning home, he went to work for Trust Co. Bank later becoming SunTrust Bank in Atlanta where he met and married the love of his life. They had two children and enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Clinton began working in the data processing department and would be promoted to Vice President and then Sr Vice President of Special Services before retiring after a 30 plus years career. He loved to hunt, fish, and camp in his beloved mountains of his hometown of Ellijay. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Doris Christopher Ellis and his beloved siblings Millard Eugene ''Gene'' Ellis, (Sybil) Ellis Rogers, Geneva Weaver (Arlen), Girtha Southern (John B), and Pauline Ellis.

Survivors include: Son, Joseph Clinton Ellis (Lynn); Granddaughters, Crissy Jones (Clay),  Nikole Blackstone; Great Grandchildren Cody and Casey Jones; Daughter, Hope Ellis Cantrell; Grandson, Tyler Clinton Cantrell (Cherise); great granddaughter, Carine Cantrell; Special daughter, Merri Pouncey (Mark); grandchildren, Kristin Pouncey Nolan (Joshua), and Timothy Pouncey several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 9 ^th , 2022, at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with his great nephew Rev. Scott Chastain officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pall Bearers Johnny Merrill, Tyler Cantrell, Mark Pouncey, Josh Nolan, Dan Southern.

The family will receive friends on Friday July 8, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted but donations may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Dennis Ralston @ 117 River Lane Ellijay Ga 30536 in memory of Mr. Ellis.
