Mr. Darrell Gene Watkins, age 59 of Ellijay, passed on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, at the Parkside Center for Nursing and Rehab in Ellijay.

He was a lifelong resident of Gilmer County and worked in the carpet manufacturing industry. Mr. Watkins is the son of the late James and Doris Jean Maynard Watkins and is also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Watkins.

Survivors include his son, Cody Watkins and his fiance Katie McCullough; brothers, Gary Watkins, Bozy Watkins, and Kenneth Watkins; sister, Diane Pierce, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 2:00 pm from the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roy Scott officiating. Pallbearers serving will be Kevin Watkins, Matthew Watkins, Austin Watkins, Tommy Scott, Jeremiah Watkins, David Watkins, Rusty McClure, and Josh Watkins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 11th from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted; however, the family respectfully requests that no food be brought to the funeral home.
