Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dudley Bevins.

Dudley was born on March 31, 1965, in Wayne County, MI to the late Alta "Mae" Bevins. At age 15 he became a naturalized southerner and spent the rest of his life in the forests of Gilmer Co. with his wife, Treina D. Bevins, his son, Dudgrick R. Bevins (whom he called "Bub"), and many many wonderful pets.

Dudley was a proud carpenter and believed the work of building and improving people's homes was noble. This love can be traced to his wood shop teacher, Mr. Smith, the faith the Stover family had in him, and the friends he made working for Wally Stover. Dudley loved the trees, not just for what they could build, but for the beauty of the grain, the bark, the leaves and their colors, and how they housed the birds.

Dudley is proceeded in death by his brother, Paul David "PD" Bevins Sr.; his eldest sister, Alta Ann Bevins; and his eldest brother, Thurmond Southerland.

In addition to his wife and son, Dudley is survived by his beloved pup, Neo; sister-in-law, Linda Bevins; brother-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Frazier; sister and brother-in-law, Dorthy "Dottie" and Rickey LaBlanc; nephew, Paul David Bevins II; nephew and spouse, Daryl and Angel Bevins; nephew and spouse, Zachary and Terri LaBlanc; nephew and spouse, Rickey and Sherri LaBlanc; niece, Angela "Angie" Faris; niece and spouse, Chasiti and Chandler Jones; nephew and spouse, Collin and Leah Teague; and niece and special friend, Ivie Teague and Colby Underwood.

Bernhardt Funeral Home is hosting a public viewing from 1pm-4pm on Monday, October 22. From 4pm-5pm a small service will be held where friends and family are invited to speak. The family appreciates live plants or donations made in Dudley's name to Homeward Bound Pet Rescue ( https://hbpr.org//donate.html ), but all expressions of love and celebration are welcome.

Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
