Eleanor Kathryn Nicks Moore was born in Thibodaux, LA to Elmer Elijah and Eliska Grice Nicks. She had six siblings; Vera Greaves, Betty Sneed, Ora Fife, Cecilia St. Romain, Elmer Elijah ("Jiggs") Jr. and Florence Trowbridge, all deceased.

She grew up on a sugar cane farm in Thibodaux, then moved to New Orleans in her teens where her family owned a grocery store on Magazine Street. It was in New Orleans that she met and married the love of her life Basil Donald Moore on July 8, 1949. They enjoyed 49 years together, living in Louisiana, Virginia, Mississippi, Texas and Georgia. She is survived by their three daughters, Cynthia Ann Nicholson and spouse Danny of Lumberton, Texas, Nadine Sandra Martinez and spouse Peter, of New Braunfels, Texas, and Eleanor Kathryn Seibert and spouse Wesley of Ellijay, Georgia.

Grandmother of seven: Shane Martinez of Texas, Gary Becks and spouse Lisa of Kentucky, Stephanie Becks Rea and spouse Jason of Texas, Holly Seibert Profitt of Georgia, Desiree Martinez Hays and spouse Tyler of Texas, Drew Seibert and spouse Pamela of Georgia and Ashley Martinez Stephens and spouse Gregg of Colorado.Great Grandmother of ten: Brittany, Ashley Lauren, Cody, Stella, Connor, Addison, Carter, Hudson, Cameron and Avery. And Great-Great Grandmother of two: Joshua and Lillian.

Eleanor's passions were cooking, (she was an excellent cook!), reading, gardening, fishing, shelling, playing her Hammond organ, singing in the church choir, playing golf in her younger years, oil painting and collecting antiques. She worked most of her life…clerking in a soda fountain in her teens, and then when all of her girls were in school, she managed the accounting departments at several Houston businesses. It was during this time that she and Don purchased a beach house in Matagorda, TX where they spent their leisure time together. After retiring, they raised cattle on their ranch in Flatonia, TX. Some of the best family memories are of this time….with her zany sense of humor, she named the cows hilarious names to fit their personalities. Many a fun day with children and grands was spent playing hide and seek in the pasture, chasing cows, softball and croquet in the meadow and riding on Don's heavy equipment.

After selling the ranch, she and Don moved to Ellijay, GA and she began her lifelong dream of buying and selling antiques, working until she was in her early nineties.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home.

What a beautiful, long life she lived and her family will miss her presence in their lives forever. ♥️
