Pinson
Jan 19, 1940 — Jul 23, 2026
Ellijay
Mr. Ernest Pinson, age 86, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of hard work, love, and devotion to his family.
Born on January 19, 1940, in Ellijay, Georgia, Mr. Pinson was the son of the late Sam Pinson, Jr. and Dessie Greenway Pinson. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honored to be a veteran.
Mr. Pinson retired from Mohawk Industries after more than 40 years of dedicated service as a tufting machine operator. He was a man who believed in the value of hard work and was known by all who knew him as a true jack of all trades. There was very little he could not do, and whatever he set his hands to, he did with excellence.
He especially enjoyed gardening and possessed a remarkable green thumb, raising beautiful vegetables and flowers throughout the years. His prized day lilies were among his greatest joys, and he took great pride in sharing their beauty with others. Mr. Pinson also loved canning the fruits of his labor, making a variety of jams and jellies, and was well known among family and friends for his delicious homemade cakes.
One of his greatest passions was quilting, a craft he learned as a young boy while accompanying his mother to work, being the fourth child out of ten, they had a bond that lasted a lifetime. It was there she instilled in him the value of honest labor, a lesson he carried throughout his life. From daylight until dusk, Ernest worked tirelessly by the sweat of his brow to provide for the family he loved so deeply.
Above all else, Mr. Pinson was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Norma Sue Garland Pinson, and together they shared many wonderful years while raising their three children: Brandy Pinson, Shane Pinson, and Dusty Pinson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pinson was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Sue Garland Pinson; his brothers, William Pinson, Willard Pinson, and Hank Pinson; his sister, Gurdine “Dolly” Pinson and Betty Jean Pinson Deboard and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bud and Mattie Henson Garland.
Mr. Pinson is survived by his loving children, Brandy Pinson, Shane and Shelley Pinson (Annabel), Dusty and April Pinson (Madelyn Land and CJ Land) his siblings, Frances Edmondson (Richard), Christine Walker (Eugene), Johnny Pinson (Diane), and Freida Johns; along with numerous extended family members, his special and long time friend, Ernestine Mooney, and many other friends who will forever cherish his memory and the example he set through his life.
