Mr. Estes Lamar Tipton, age 82, of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
Mr. Tipton was born on July 13, 1943, in Gilmer County, Georgia, to the late Floyd Tipton and Zennia Walker Tipton. He was a faithful member of Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life. Mr. Tipton worked as a farmer with B.J. Reece Orchards for many years, taking great pride in his work and enjoying the honest labor of caring for the land. He was an avid fisherman who found great joy in spending time outdoors. Whether he was fishing, enjoying the beauty of nature, or simply being outside, he appreciated the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. Above all, Mr. Tipton dearly loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them, leaving behind many cherished memories that will forever be remembered.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tipton is preceded in death by his brothers, Emory Tipton, Everette "Cotton" Tipton, and Ermel Tipton; and his sister, Evelyn Long.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Dessie Tipton; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Danny Cantrell, Tammy and Robert Rogers, and Lisa Tipton; sister, Ester Garland; grandchildren, Cody Tipton, Clay Tipton, Dustin Burgess, and Cameron Burgess; great-grandchildren, Mia Burgess and Ethan Burgess.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 5th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. John Reece officiating. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Cameron Burgess, Ethan Burgess, Clay Tipton, Cody Tipton, Jeff Tipton, Ronnie Long, and Robert Rogers. The following gentlemen will be serving as honorary pallbearers: Dwane Daves and Dustin Burgess. Internment will follow in the Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 5th, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour of 2:00 p.m. at Bernhardt Funeral Home.
Flowers are accepted; however, the family respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
