Ellijay
Mrs. Evelyn Morris (Land) Greene, age 86 of Talking Rock, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 7th, 2024, surrounded by her children. She was a member of North Canton Baptist Church and leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and her wonderful cooking.
Born to Claud and Mattie Lee Morris of Canton, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Hoyt Morris, and her husbands, Delmar Land, Sr., who tragically died in an automobile accident in 1974, and Dr. Paul E. Greene. Her early education included attending North Canton School as a primary student, graduating from Canton High School, and pursuing further studies at Reinhart College.
Evelyn's lifelong passion for music, particularly the piano, was evident from early childhood through her college years. She took pride in participating in numerous advanced piano studies. Her dedication to music extended beyond personal fulfillment as she embarked on a 60-year piano teaching career. Evelyn's influence touched the lives of students in Cherokee and Fannin County School Systems. She also owned and operated piano studies in Ellijay, Marietta, and Talking Rock, GA.
One of Evelyn's greatest joys was sharing her love of music with her family. She felt blessed to have taught her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren the beauty of music and the art of playing the piano. Her commitment to musical expression extended to serving as a Church pianist in various congregations in Canton, Marietta, Blue Ridge, and Ellijay. She played for numerous weddings, funerals, and other special occasions, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who experienced her artistry.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Del Land, Jr. (Tamara), and Susan Land Shelton (Kent); five cherished grandchildren, Dr. Adam Land (Suzanne), Rev. Caleb Land (Emily), Tasha Land Hartness (Keith), Rev. Aaron Land (Katie), and 1st Lt. (RET) Charles "Chase" Sanger IV; along with 10 amazing great-grandchildren: Haley and Harrison Mooney, Kathryn and Asher Land, David and Lillie Land, Cannan, Rebekah, and Titus Land, and Charlie Sanger also survive.
In addition to her family, Evelyn was blessed with a multitude of friends throughout her 86 years. Her dear friend, Mrs. Bobbie Ann Corn, preceded her in death. Evelyn also cherished friendships from relatives, church family, neighbors, and more recently, fellow residents and staff at Monor Lake of Ellijay, along with nurses and aids of Compassus Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with 1st Lt. (RET) Charles "Chase" Sanger, Dr. Adam Land, Rev. Caleb Land, Rev.
