Obituary

Mr. Morris Everett Vaughan, age 87 of Talking Rock, passed away on Sunday, February 25th, 2024 at Manor Lake Assisted Living in Ellijay.

Mr. Vaughan was born on March 27th, 1936, in Cumming, to the late Marvin Daniel Vaughan and Viola Padgett Vaughan. He served in the United States Army, worked for the Fulton County Fire Department and Chatham Construction Company in Atlanta. He worked and retired from General Electric Company. After retiring from GE, Everett drove a school bus and retired from the Transportation Department of the Gilmer County Board of Education. Mr. Vaughan was a member of the Masons and was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay. He loved baseball and had a passion for hunting, fishing, and gardening. Mr. Vaughan's other hobbies were collecting pocket knives and reading Loui L'amour books. He adored his wife, Jo, and loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Martha "Jo" Vaughan; two sons, Stan (Donna) Vaughan of Columbus and Eric (Debbie) Vaughan of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Trudi (Natalie) Vaughan of Marietta; two sisters, Margaret McClain and Becky Robinson; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren also survive.

To honor his wishes, Mr. Vaughan will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2nd at 11:30 AM from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 2nd from 10:00 AM until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org in memory of Mr. Everett Vaughan. The family respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
