Frederick "Buddy" Griffith Record passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the age of 74.

Buddy was born in 1947 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Marguerite and Frederick Record. He joined the Navy in 1967, proudly serving in Vietnam with his fellow Seawolves. After his service, he originally landed in Florida before moving to the Atlanta area in 1983. In 2011, he and his wife, Florence, settled in to a quiet mountain life in Ellijay, GA.

Ellijay was a perfect place for Buddy. He loved the closeness and laidback attitude of this small town. He always enjoyed people, and bringing an immeasurable amount of love and laughter to the lives of everyone around him. His strengthening faith and relationship with the Lord gave him comfort and peace over the last several years, especially in the last few months.

He is survived by his wife, Florence Record; four daughters, Amber Dunford (Ryan), Summer Murphy (Robert), Jinger Hatcher, and Laine Bennett; one son, Carter Hatcher; one brother, Gary Record; nine grandchildren, Lainee Murphy, Ryder Murphy, Arthur Dunford, Walker Bennett, Carter James Bennett, Dillon Bennett, Austen Bennett, Cameron Bennett, Nash Hatcher, Mary Lane Hatcher, Noah Hatcher, and Richie Hatcher.

On Thursday, February 17, 2022, his family will have a small, private service for Buddy. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to:
