Obituary

Mr. Fredric Truxton Morris of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on April 14th, 2025 at the age of 88.

Fred Morris was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Eblin and Floyd Lee Morris. He graduated from the University of Chattanooga as a student athlete (football) with a degree in Geology. While at Chattanooga, he met the love of his life, Maxine Robbs, a nursing student from Erlanger.

Fred was a scratch golfer and played many of the courses across the United States. He was a talented builder and woodworker who used his talents to help neighbors and friends in their renovation and home beautification projects. He had many witty comments or good-natured jokes to lighten every occasion.

Fred loved nothing more than sailing at Lake Lanier with his three sons. He instilled in them confidence, quiet strength, independent thinking and certainly that they could do anything if they put their mind to it.

He was a much beloved grandfather who indulged his granddaughters in their art projects, games, adventures, and whims. In return, his granddaughters believed he could do anything, including "sending the stars all the way from Montana."

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Maxine Robbs Morris; his son, Tim Morris and daughter-in-law, Kate; granddaughters, Emilie and Becca; Emilie's husband, Caleb Sansom, and great grandson, Britton. He was predeceased by his much loved and missed sons, Britt and Scott.

Bernhardt Funeral Home of Ellijay was in charge of these arrangements.
