Garmer Joseph Burchfield, age 76, of Ellijay, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Mr. Burchfield was born on February 3, 1950, in Robbinsville, North Carolina, the son of the late Nathan Burchfield and Harriet Lynn Burchfield. He was a gifted painter whose talent and creativity were admired by many. An avid outdoorsman, he found great joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and riding motorcycles. He was also a dedicated Hamm radio enthusiast, a captivating storyteller, and a friend to all who met him.

He is survived by his son, Tony Ingle; daughter, Sharon Ulrich; brother, Quillard Burchfield; seven grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home, with Rev. Patrick O'Dell officiating. Interment to follow in Yukon Cemetery. Pallbearers include Timothy Williams, Anthony Ingle, David Scott, David Edmondson, Keith Morgan, and Jackson Williams.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 26, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday, March 27, from 9:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.

Flowers and food will be graciously accepted in memory of Mr. Garmer Burchfield.
