Mr. George Franklin James, Sr., age 85 of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at the Cameron Hall of Canton.

Mr. James was born on August 24th, 1939 in Gilmer County to the late Thurlo James and the late Artie Anderson James. He owned and operated James Mechanics and was a devout member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Ellijay, GA. Mr. James proudly served our nation in the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents, Mr. James is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ridley.

He is survived by his wife, Ellene Gooch James of Ellijay, GA; son and daughter-in-law, George Franklin James, Jr. and (Beth) of Ellijay, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Nora (Leroy) Faulkner of Fairmount, GA; sister, Retha Stanford of Marietta, GA; 8 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services to honor the life of Mr. James will be held on Thursday, March 13th, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Stover officiating. Graveside Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family respectfully asks that no food and flowers be brought to the funeral home; however, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation in memory of Mr. George Franklin James, Sr.
