Mr. George Harrill Lewis, age 81 of Ellijay, passed away on Sunday, June 18th, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Lewis was born in Florida on September 27th, 1941, to the late Otis Lewis and Ila Hamrick. He was a General Contractor. George served our country and was with the 87th Airborne. Along with being a general contractor, he also worked as a commercial fisherman. He was a proud member of the Sons of Norway which led him to build Norwegian boats for fellow Sons of Norway members all over Florida. He also remodeled and built Kindercares in South Carolina.  When he retired to Georgia he continued to build and enjoyed constructing birdhouses, which he would sell at local festivals.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Lein Lewis; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie Lorianne "Lori" and Matt Marks; brother, Larry Lewis, and three granddaughters, Sarah (Kyle), Allysen (Matt), and Jordan Marks, and one great-grandchild, Aiden also survives.

To honor his wishes, Mr. Lewis will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

George was a wonderful husband and father and loved his family.
