Glenda Sue Johnson, also known as Glenda Sue, Susie or Granny, born December 24, 1941 she was the daughter of Orral Anthony Martin and Myrtle Lois Johnston Martin of East Ellijay.

Glenda Sue graduated Gilmer High School and married Edmond. Glenda Sue and Edmond married March 17, 1959. Both Edmond and Glenda Sue were volunteers for the Community Action Committee in Gilmer County. Glenda Sue worked at the hosiery mill for 5 years, worked in the C&K Family grocery store for 5 years, and managed the first Dollar General Store in town for 5 years. In 1976 Glenda Sue joined the staff of Riverside Drug. After 7 years at the drugstore, opportunity came with a job at the courthouse with the Clerk of Superior Court in Willard Ralston's office. Working for Willard for 13 ½ years prior to his retirement age gave incentive and knowledge to run for the clerk of court office. Glenda Sue opted in for the 1996 election. She won the office with one opposing candidate and took office in 1997. The next elections Glenda Sue ran unopposed and served as Gilmer County's Clerk of court for 22 years, until her retirement.

Glenda Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edmond Johnson, Jr. Father and Mother, Orral Anthony Martin and Myrtle Lois Johnston Martin and Brother, Ronnie Anthony Martin.
Glenda Sue is survived by her three children: Donna Johnson Scott (Johnny), Deborah Johnson Fitzgibbon (David), and Darrin Johnson (Amy). Eight Grandchildren: LeeAnn Teague (Josh) and Christopher Scott (Andrea), Lauren Cochran, Hunter Johnson and Erin Johnson, Ryan Lowery(Jenna), Chelsea Lowery (Jake Fortenberry), and Baylie Johnson. Seven Great-grandchildren: Gracelyn Teague and Jarrett Teague, Wyatt Scott and Weston Scott, and three great-grandchildren due this June.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 27 th , 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the East Ellijay Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Arnold and Rev. Russell Hood officiating. Interment will follow in the Flint Hill Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include: Chris Scott, Jarrett Teague, Hunter Johnson, Ryan Lowery, Greg Cochran, Eddie Crump, Randy Hyde, Pat Shelton, Lewis Lopez. Honorary Pallbearers serving will include: Ricky Reece, Mitchell Bowen, Charles Kiker, Mack Logan, Ed Forrester, Edward Ledford, Mack Woods, Wyatt Scott, and Weston Scott.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 26 th , 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
