Glenn W. King "The Paint King"

Glenn Watts King was born in Goshen, NY on October 7, 1956. He was the oldest of four sons born to Douglas and Bonnie (Watts) King.

He passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, peacefully at home, with loved ones by his side. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Susan Jane King, his daughter Jennifer and her husband Cary, his son Christopher and daughter-in-law Tanya, his three brothers Timothy, David, Dale, and their wives, along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

As Glenn grew up, the family lived in various places in New York, eventually settling in St. Petersburg, FL. At age 13 he dedicated his life to God in water baptism. At 14 years old he painted his first house. These 2 events were the beginning of over 5 decades as a professional painter and as a Christian minister.

For all of his life Glenn loved to sing, play and listen to music. In his teens he played trumpet for the live orchestra at witness conventions. One of his greatest joys was singing harmony with his family and friends. He later learned to play the bass guitar and always loved to jam with friends and family. A favorite pastime he and Sue always enjoyed together was listening to others play at concerts, festivals and other venues.

Glenn was well known for his skills as a painter in the years he lived in St. Petersburg. He and Sue moved to Ellijay in 2006. Immediately they fell in love with the quiet way of life, beauty and change of seasons  here in the North Georgia Mountains. Glenn quickly developed a reputation for his painting skills, professionalism, and reliability. He was well known for his strength and dynamic, friendly personality. He is loved and missed by many in the community.

In May of this year, Glenn was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. How rapidly this horrible disease robbed him of everything that was "Glenn" and then, tragically his life.

Sue and the family wish to thank the entire staff at Compassus Hospice in Ellijay for their prompt, loving care and assistance. Our dear Monica, words cannot express how much it meant that you were here when needed the most. Also, many thanks to ALS United of Georgia and Project Main Street for their assistance and support. We will never forget and will always be grateful for the love and support of all those in our family, our Worldwide Christians Congregation, and our neighbors throughout the North Georgia Mountains.

All are invited to attend Glenn's memorial service, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, on 4260 Yukon Road, It will be held on Saturday, October 26th, at 3pm.
