Mrs. Gloria Jean Eason Kent, age 79, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2026.
Mrs. Kent was born on September 14, 1946, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Loyd Clifton Eason, Sr. and Mary Ethel Strickland Eason.
Gloria was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of The Orchard Church in Ellijay, Georgia. She loved the Lord deeply. She treasured time spent reading and studying her Bible,
For more than 20 years, Gloria faithfully served her community as a school bus driver for the Clayton County School System. After retiring they moved to Ellijay in 2004.
Gloria and her late husband, Harvey Kent, Sr., were self-employed for most of their lives. Gloria found great joy in being closer to her grandchildren. Her decision to make Ellijay her home was a reflection of what mattered most to her—her family. She also enjoyed her 32 year old parrot, JoJo.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Lee Kent, Sr.; brothers, Loyd Clifton Eason, Jr. and Jerry Lee Eason; nephew, Darrell Dean Campbell.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harvey Lee Kent, Jr. and Dr. Alana Kent, of Ellijay, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Kent Jursic and Joe Jursic, of Marietta, GA; grandchildren, Harvey Lee Kent, III, Nicholas James Kent, and Joey Christopher Jursic and his fiancée, Katelyn Smith; sister, Dorothy Eason Fletcher, of North Baltimore, OH; niece and husband, Debbie and Kevin Arnesen, of Cygnet, OH; great-niece and husband, Jennifer and Eric Jacques; great-great-nieces, Zoey and Madilyn Jacques; great-niece and husband, Brook and Brient Langley; nephew and wife, Brett and Mattie Campbell; and Brook and Brett’s mother, Tony Brown.
Funeral Services to honor the life of Mrs. Kent will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 1 pm from the Orchard Church in Ellijay, GA, with Pastor Steve Dusek officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12 pm until the service hour at 1 pm.
Flowers will be accepted.
Bernhardt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
