Mr. Foster McArthur, age 82 of Ellijay, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. McArthur was born November 15, 1939, in Gilmer County to the late Grady and Etta McClure McArthur. He was a graduate of Gilmer County Class of 1957. He was a State Trooper employed by the Georgia State Patrol office. He was a Member and the Choir Director at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Foster loved music and enjoyed singings and singing conventions. He is preceded in death by grandson, Brent Burnette.

Survivors include, his wife, Barbara McArthur; Daughter, Cheree Jack (Bryan); Grandchildren, Corey Crump (Jana), Jacob Burnette, Tyler Babb; Great-grandchildren, Toccoa Burnette, Oliver Crump, Brentlee Crump; Sister, Maxine Chastain; Brother in-law, Kent Reece (Sandra); Sisters-in-law, Helen R. Pinson, Mary Alice Turner (Bency), and Elaine McArthur; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Cantrell, Rev. Russel Burt, and Rev. Calvin Grogan officiating. Interment to follow in the Yukon cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Ernie McArthur, Russell Reece, Melvin Chadwick, Johnny Cornelius, Bryan Jack, Tyler Babb, Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronald Knight, Gene Pankey, Danny Sparks, Jim McVey, Doug Morrow, Leslie Richards, James Southern, Billy Davis, Donald Cantrell, Lanny Chastain, Ronald West and Harvey McClure.

The family will receive Friday, September 9 ^th , 2022, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

The family respectfully asks that no flowers be sent to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Yukon Cemetery Fund in care of Billy Bernhardt at P.O. Box 466 Ellijay, Ga 30540 or the North Georgia School of Gospel Music in care of Barbara McArthur at 170 Dogwood Road-Ellijay, GA 30536.
