Gus Smith,  age 75 of Ball Ground, Georgia, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2025 at Advent Health Murray.  He was born January 31, 1950 to Robert Guy and Bertha Smith in Ellijay, Georgia.

Gus is survived by his son, Jason Smith of Ball Ground; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Richie Haithcock of Ball Ground; grandchildren, Dana and Scott Anderson of Jasper, Heather and Ethan Rhinehart of Jasper, Hunter and Ali Haithcock of Ball Ground, Sara and Jared Parker of Nelson, Celena Haithcock (Blake) of Marble Hill, Jaycee Dupree of Ball Ground, Jimmy Dupree of Ball Ground, Abby Dupree of Ball Ground, Bella Dupree of Ball Ground, Tristin Smith of Ball Ground,  Hannah Smith of Canton; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Cruse Smith of Rockmart; special cousin, Brenda Cruse of Marietta;   Several nieces, nephews, and other family members also survive.

Gus was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Smith and parents, Guy and Bertha Smith.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Clear Creek Baptist Church with Reverend John Holloway, Reverend Curtis Roland, and Reverend Chris Boling officiating. Interment will follow in the Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 3488 Clear Creek Road; Ellijay, GA 30536.

The family will be receiving friends at Roper Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.; Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.; and Thursday, October 9, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
