Mrs. Gwen Alene Burgess, age 58 of Ellijay, passed away on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023.

Gwen was a lifelong resident of Ellijay and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Patricia Starks Hembree. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burgess is preceded in death by her grandson, Dylon Burgess.

She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Burgess; one son, Daniel Austin Burgess; one daughter, Brittany Nicole Burgess; one sister, Kathy Davidson; 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Burgess, Alayha Spriggs, Autum Spriggs, Summer Spriggs, and Byson Spriggs; niece, Kaylyn Morrow, and nephew, Dawson Davidson.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 17th, 2023 at 4:00 p.m from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Dalton Morrow and Rev. Eric Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include: Dawson Davidson, Aaron Davis, Gentry McCoy, Christian Gibson, Brett Teasley, and Dakota Burgess.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17th, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to the towards the funeral expenses.
