Harriet Annette Shumate age 85 of Ellijay passed away on December 1st, 2024 at her residence with family by her side.

Harriet was born May 9, 1939, in Memphis TN to the late Richard Bohannon and Geneva Anderson Bohannon. She attended College at Memphis State University.   She was a long-time resident of Ellijay and former owner of Mountain Tops and Country Store. She was an avid gardener, she especially loved growing zinnias.

A loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband; Thurman Shumate, Children; Annette O'Hara, Karen Harrison, Thurman Keith Shumate, Darlene Burdett, brothers; Gerald Bohannon, Wayne Bohannon, Charles Bohannon, Harold Bohannon, grandchildren; Brandon Anderson, Chandler Burdett, and 1 great-grandchild; Parker Anderson also survive.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Pastor Sharon Watkins and Family members officiating.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 13th, 2024 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Flowers and food will both be accepted or donations can be made to the K9Sforwarriors.org in loving memory of Mrs. Shumate.
