Mrs. Hester Jane Mooney Crooke, age 84 of Ellijay, passed away on Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 at her residence.

Hester was born on May 29th, 1939 in Gilmer to the late George Grady Mooney and Elvie Jane McClure Mooney. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of thirty-three years Eldrige Clarence Crooke; her daughter, Wanda Angela Crooke; and brothers, Herbert Mooney and Hershel Mooney.

She worked hard for many years in the textile industry before her retirement and was a member of Harvest Missionary Church. In her retirement, she enjoyed going to church, her flowers, and especially her dogs.

Survivors include, son Wayne Crooke; sons and daughters-in-law, Weldon and Tina Crooke and Darryl and Brenda Crooke; daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Darrell Ray; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Diane Mooney; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and Grady Crooke, Evelyn and Chuck Tillman, and Connie and Gary Isaacson. Ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive. The family also wants to thank Hester's wonderful caregivers who treated her like family.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 18th, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home With Rev. Glenn Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in the Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include: Stephen Crooke, Jason Parker, Josh Sanford, Brandon White, Joey Ray, and Dusty Ray.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 18th, 2023, from 11:00 am until the funeral hour of 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted however the family asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
