Mr. James Melvin Walker, age 66 of Ellijay, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Walker was born on April 7 ^th , 1955 in Gilmer County to the late Leonard and Lemma Walker. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Walker graduated from Gilmer High School Class of 1974 and worked at Goldkist for many years. He loved the lord and his family endlessly and was a proud member of the Flat Branch Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janis Walker of the home; one son, Chad (Janice) Walker of Ellijay, GA; one daughter, Brooke (Robbie) Norton of Jasper, GA; one brother, Kenneth Walker of Ellijay, GA; four sisters, Linda Cochran, Patricia Cantrell, Barbara Baldridge, and Carolyn Fricks; three grandchildren, Kelsi Cook, Brandon Cook, and Mia Grace Walker, and one great grandchild, Addilyn James.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at 12:00 PM in the Bernhardt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Withrow, Rev. Daniel Reece, Rev. Carroll Holbrooks, and Rev. Franklin Harper. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Curtis Davis, Lamar Walker, Micky Starks, Matt Starks, Robbie Norton, Nathan Hensley, Brady Timbs, Mike Cantrell Thomas Morgan, and Honorary Pallbearers :Ken Potter II, Eddie Mullinax, Eddie Cochran and Shawn Eller.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 8 ^th , 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Funeral Home. The family has requested no food to be brought to the funeral home. Masks are strongly requested.
