James Franklin Tipton, age 70 of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

James was born May 4, 1955, in Gilmer County to the late Bill and Clara Eaton Tipton.  James was a lifelong resident and enjoyed all the north Georgia mountains had to offer. He loved camping, hunting, and fishing. He also was fond of classic cars.

James could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a friend to all and loved his family and being with them. James was a simple man and made everyone around him feel at ease.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Pat Boring and brother Billy Tipton. James is survived by his wife Rhonda Tipton, son, James Tipton Jr., daughter, Tiffany Beavers, brother, David Tipton, and grandchildren, Emily and Caden Beavers. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of the Bernhardt Funeral Home, with Brother Paul Vallejos officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, at the funeral home.
