Mr. Jan Lee McGivney, age 70 of Ellijay, Ga, passed away on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 at the Accent Care Facility in Cumming, GA.

Mr. McGivney was born December 1st, 1953 in Daytona Beach Florida, the son of the late Francis Alden McGivney and Laura Lee Phillips. Jan loved driving a truck which he had driven all his life, from ambulances to transfer trucks. He was caring, loving, wise, and everyone's favorite ''Umpa''. Jan also loved traveling and most of all the beach.

Jan is survived by his wife, Laura Owens McGivney; daughters, Martha Amy (Ken) Watkins, Fayetteville GA, Amanda Evelyn Reynolds, Deanna Olivia Cannon; son, Carl Scott McGivney; brothers, Cary (Linda) McGivney, Acworth GA, Kim (Mary) McGivney, Tryon NC, Sean McGivney, Rochester WA; sister, Naomi Ruth (Shane) Strasburger, Rochester WA; grandchildren Cutter McGivney, Masen McGivney, Rhett Smith, Zeke Smith Brayden Burnette, Raelyn Cannon, Caroline Cannon, Elijah Reynolds, Zoey Reynolds, and great-grandchildren, Kolton Smith, Rylan Smith.

A memorial service is being planned for late October. The date will be updated as soon as it becomes available.
