Mr. Jere Gale Summers, age 84 of Ellijay, passed away Monday, January 30th, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Summers was born on February 14th, 1938 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Ernie B. Summers and Lucille Lanier Summers. He served our country in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. After his time in the service, Mr. Summers worked as a truck driver. He was also a member of Riverhill Baptist Church. Mr. Summers is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Earlene Summers; daughter, Teresa Summers (Jose) Cerna; son, Danny Summers; two step-daughters, Celeste McGhee and Patsy (Phillip) Davenport; step-son, Mike (Lynn) Grimes; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Carley and Joan Ponder.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 2nd at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Harmon and Rev. Phillip Davenport Jr. Interment will follow in the Riverhill Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Jamie McClure, Derek Brewer, Brent Grimes, Seth Grimes, David Dowdy, Matthew Sanford, and Seaton Grimes. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Atchison, Tyler Farrior, Caleb Grimes, Bennett Brewer, Riley Brewer, Trey Dowdy, Ty McClure, Brooks Farrior, and Levi Honea.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1st from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Flowers and food will be accepted in memory of Mr. Jere Summers.
