Obituary

Mr. Jerry Glenn Rackley, age 79, of Copperhill, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Rackley was born on January 3, 1947, in Trion, GA, to the late Earnest Rackley and Martha Boatner Rackley.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared 59 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda Rackley. Together, they built a life filled with family, love, memories, and countless moments that will be treasured forever. Jerry was a proud father to his daughters and a devoted grandfather to his seven grandchildren. His family was one of the greatest joys of his life, and his love for them will continue to live on through the generations.

A talented carpenter by trade, Jerry was a man who loved to work with his hands. He had a natural gift for building, fixing, creating, and tinkering with just about anything. Jerry also enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He had a passion for NASCAR and especially enjoyed cheering on his favorite driver, Chase Elliott. Jerry found happiness in the simple things in life and in the people he loved most.

Jerry leaves behind a lifetime of love, memories, and lessons that will never be forgotten. Though his chair may now be empty and his hands finally still, the things he built, the lives he touched, and the love he gave will remain for years to come.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Rackley; and sisters, Kathleen Genelle Rackley and Opal June Rackley Yarbrough.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Rackley; daughters, Glenda Rackley Waters and Jennifer Rackley Davis (Christopher Davis); grandchildren, Caleb Waters, Robert Waters (Bre), David Waters, Kaden Waters, Derek Davis, Creed Davis, and Caylee Davis; nephew, Michael Nichols; niece, Judy Yarbrough; and best friend and cousin, William Newton.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12th, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Smith, Bro. Caden Farist, and Rev. Billy Waters officiating.

The following gentlemen will serve as honorary pallbearers: Brandon Sutton, William Newton, Robert Waters, Chris Davis, Billy Waters, Tyler Nichols, Caleb Waters, Michael Nichols, Kaden Waters, David Waters, Derek Davis, Creed Davis, and Richard Esparza.

Interment will be held privately in Yukon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 12th, from 12:00 noon until the service hour at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Food will be accepted; however, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Bernhardt Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
