Jimmie G. Kirkland, age 85 of San Francisco, CA, went home to  be with the Lord, Wednesday January 31, 2024 after an extended battle with cancer.

Jimmie was born, September 2, 1938 in Ellijay, Georgia to his parents, the late John Kirkland, and the late Dorothy C. Kirkland.

Preceding him in death were three of his seven siblings, Glenda K. Bridges, Brenda K. Parks, and J.D. Kirkland.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Suzanne "Suzy"  Lee of San Francisco, CA, daughter Jessica Iler (Chris)of Brookhaven Ga, sisters, Ginger K. Sallé, Canton, GA, Nanette (Ronald) Knight, Ellijay, GA, Beverly (Tommy) Prince, Ellijay, GA, and Trish Kirkland, Flowery Branch, GA. Granddaughter Marissa Kirkland (Jonathan Natarus), of Snellville, GA, Grandson, Ryan Nicholas Iler, Brookhaven, GA, and Great Grandson, Adler Natarus.

Lifelong friends, Carter Tankersley, P.W. Boatwright, and MH Panter also survive along with a very large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Jimmie was raised on a farm and working hard was a part of it, he said however, he preferred pole fishing to plowing. Jimmie enjoyed sports, especially watching football, in his younger days he made money during hard times in amateur boxing, or working with race horses, and in the early 70's owned a record store in the Atlanta area called Strawberry Fields Records.

Jimmie enjoyed traveling and explored new places for a number of years and later made his home in California enjoying its year round mild climate, As Jimmie would say, "everybody loves California"! Jimmie made many friends throughout the country and took his southern charm with him wherever he went, truly a unique man, Jimmie will be remembered.

Jimmie's wish was to be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date.
