Mr. Joe Lester Mullinax, age 94 of Ellijay, Ga, passed away on Tuesday, October 11th, 2022 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.

Mr. Mullinax was born in Gilmer County on February 12th, 1928, the son of the late Clifford and Lillie Ellis Mullinax. He worked for many years in the textile industry and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three of his three children, Carolyn Bridges, Willard Mullinax, and Betty Sue Green.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 75 years, Bessie Mae Sanford;  seven children, Helen and Joe Patterson, Patricia Lands, Geneva Callihan, Donna and Ruel Johnson, Patsy Ann Mullinax, Penny and Roy Carroll, and Cricket Mantooth; brother, Jesse Mullinax; and 20 grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14th, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Anthony Lands and Chad Lands officiating. Interment will follow in Yukon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Carroll, Scott Carroll, Robbie Thurman, Patsy Mantooth, Brandon Johnson, Kevin Findley, and Steven Holmes.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 13th, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted in memory of Mr. Mullinax.
