Johnny Michael Akins, age 63, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in the early morning hours on September 15, 2022, at his home in Decatur, Alabama with his wife and son by his side, after a courageous battle with a prolonged illness. Johnny was born on July 28, 1959, in Ellijay, Georgia, and was raised in Acworth, Georgia.

Johnny is survived by his wife, Mary; his children Mindy and Justin; stepchildren; Brandon, Logan, and Ali; grandchildren; Brnnin, Katie, Amber, Jesse, Breann, Jaden, Aubrey, Kaylee, and Gavin; great-grandchildren; Rylin, Renya, and Waylon; brother Ronnie; sisters Glenda, Dale, and Lisa as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and John, and his sisters Gail and Kathy.

Johnny was an active member of the Acworth Masonic Lodge 176, for over 25 years as well as an active member of Allatoona Charities for over 30 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley, working on cars, singing karaoke, and watching television. He was a hard worker and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He never met a stranger and would light up the room with his smile. Johnny loved the Lord and will be forever missed by his family and friends. No pain, no suffering anymore, he has crossed through God's sacred door to join his family of angels on High. This is "So Long, we'll see you later" and not "Goodbye."

Johnny's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 24 ^th at Bernhardt Funeral Home located at 163 River Street in Ellijay, GA with visitation from 2:00-4:00 pm and a memorial service will follow in the chapel at 4:00 pm.
