Mrs. Joyce Chumbler Clayton Lord, age 80 of Ellijay, passed away on Tuesday, May 21st, 2024 at the Retreat of Jasper, GA.

Joyce was born on May 29th, 1943 in Gilmer County to the late Willie P. Clayton and the late Pearl Oxford Clayton. She was a jewelry maker and antique dealer. Joyce loved to travel, she loved to fish, she loved to garden, and she loved her family dearly, especially her grandson Evan. Joyce was a pioneer in business and was the first woman to be inducted into the all-male Optimist Club in Cumming, GA.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynda Chumbler and Tim Borden of Cumming, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Lynn (Nancy) Chumbler of Smithville, Texas, and grandchildren, Evan (Sarah) Chumbler of Smyrna, GA, Jeremy (Emily) Adams of Bastrop, TX. Greatgrand Children June Adams/Oliver Knight of Bastrop, TX.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Elder Kelly Smith and Rev. Jerry Clayton officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 24th, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Food and Flowers will be accepted in memory of Mrs. Joyce Lord.
