Obituary

Judith Carol Hendrix, of Clayton, GA, Rabun County, born on October 24, 1940, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at the age of 85. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Frank A Holden, Jr.

Judith was a lifelong learner and creative spirit. She lived a vivacious life across the globe, and her vast experiences are akin to those you'd read in an adventure novel. Majoring in both Art and Business, she attended Colorado Women's College, where she further developed the curiosity and independence that would define her life. A passionate watercolor artist, she found joy and expression through art, often capturing beauty, emotion, and the world around her with color and grace.

In addition to her artistic talents, Judith was a trained chef who studied the culinary arts. She delighted in exploring new flavors, cultures, and traditions, a passion that carried her across the globe through extensive travel, likely stemming from living in the Middle East both as a child, and then again as a wife and mother later in her life. She brought her vast cultural exposure and intelligence into her corporate life through her skills in speaking multiple languages and creative eye, despite being hearing-impaired.

As quoted by John Shivers from one of her many art accolades, "When deafness traditionally dictated that she should lead a life outside of the mainstream, Judith said, 'NO!'" Trained to read lips, how to put others at ease, and how to function in a hearing world allowed her to advance in a corporate environment where many didn't even realize she was hearing-impaired."

Whether painting a beautiful work of art, preparing an indulgent meal, flying a plane, working as a fashion buyer, or simply enjoying one of countless hikes with her loving husband, Frank A. Holden, Jr., Judith truly lived life to its fullest.

Judith is survived by her loving children, Marc Mendez and Michele Rodriguez. She is also survived by her brother, Gary Hendrix, and his wife, Elizabeth McMahan; along with her grandchildren, extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.

A service will be held at a later date. Condolences can be sent to:
