Mr. Leroy Eugene Rice, 80 of Cherry Log, passed away Sunday, July 3rd, 2022, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper.

Mr. Rice was born on January 6th, 1942, in Culberson, NC to the late William Everett Rice and Cristabell Kisselburg Rice. He worked for Builders Choice and was a member of Cherry Log Baptist Church. Mr. Rice is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Clyde Rice.

Survivors include his wife, Kathey Chastain Rice; two daughters, Karen (Alex) Henson of Ellijay and Rebecca (Mitchell) Reed of Cherry Log; two sisters, Modean Rice of Culberson, NC and Pauline (Max) Ware of Culberson, and a siter in law, Helen Rice of Dallas GA.; four grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Cameron, Nicholas Reed, Nicole (Wyatt) Starnes, and Kelly Henson; one great-grandchild, Lyra Beau Cameron, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 5th at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Brown, Rev. Jamie Kerr, and Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Cherry Log Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Jeff Cameron, J.W. Chastain, Jeff Chastain, James Aaron, Mark Aaron, and Joe Bouhl.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour on Tuesday, July 5th.

The family will be accepting flowers but respectfully asks that no food be brought to the funeral home.
