Lloyd Sergent, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on August 10, 2026, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Born on November 27, 1961, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, Lloyd was the cherished son of the late Bernease and Estil Sergent. 

Lloyd is survived by his devoted wife, Annette Anderson, whom he married on September 11, 1982, in a beautiful ceremony in Stockbridge, Georgia. Together, they built a loving home and raised three wonderful sons: Joshua Lloyd (Christina), Jeremy Blake (Kelsey), and Jacob Rubin. Lloyd's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Preston Blake, Brooklyn Grace, Ethan Blake, Katelyn Hope, Savannah Jane, and a soon-to-arrive baby girl, who will undoubtedly hear stories of her extraordinary grandfather. 

Lloyd was predeceased by his loving parents and his sister, Jennifer Collier. He is survived by his sisters, Rae Mona Collier (Anthony) and Denise Shirl Sandford (David), and his brother-in-law, Jack Collier. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

 Lloyd's professional journey was marked by a recent retirement from Ciena, where he made lasting contributions and formed deep connections with colleagues, many of whom he affectionately referred to as his "kids." His mentorship and camaraderie were sources of inspiration and strength to those around him. 

A man of the outdoors, Lloyd found joy in hiking, camping, fishing, and spending time in his workshop. His love for turning, carving, and building wooden creations was a testament to his craftsmanship and creativity. Those who received his hand-made gifts will forever treasure them as tokens of his love and generosity. 

Lloyd's kindness and generosity were boundless, and he was always ready with a helping hand and words of encouragement. His dry humor, sage advice, and servant's heart left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

As we gather to celebrate Lloyd's life, we invite family and friends to share stories and memories of his profound impact. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that time be spent doing something Lloyd enjoyed, honoring his memory in the most fitting way possible. 

Lloyd's life was a testament to love, generosity, and the beauty of simple pleasures. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered, cherished, and celebrated by those who had the honor of knowing him.
