Maria Tercero Escobar, age 61 of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving family by her side.

Maria was born in San Juan, Ixcoy, Guatemala May 7, 1964, to Domingo Tercero Ramirez and Ana Escobar Lucas. She was very hardworking and enjoyed taking care of her home and her grandchildren, which brought her much joy. She was kindhearted, loved her family, and was loved by everyone. She will be greatly missed.

Besides her husband, Felipe Loarca, she is also preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother, Ana Escobar Lucas, 8 children: Ermelinda Loarca Tercero, Leticia Loarca Tercero, Enrique Loarca Tercero, Domingo Loarca Tercero, Ana Loarca Tercero, Marta Loarca Tercero, Vitalina Loarca Tercero, and Juana Loarca Tercero. 19 Grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services to honor the life of Maria Tercero Escobar will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Jesus El Buen Pastor at 453 North Main Street, Ellijay, GA. She will be at the church from 10:00am until 3:00pm. Domingo Lucus will be officiating.
