Mrs. Marie Wimpey Schwarz, age 76 of Ellijay, GA, passed away on Monday, August 4th, 2025 at the Northside Cherokee Hospital of Canton, GA.

Mrs. Schwarz was born on August 8th, 1948 in Jessup, GA to the late Clyteal C. Wimpey and the late Bertha Bell Tyre Wimpey. She worked for Regal Rugs as a seamstress and was of the Pentecostal faith. Marie loved her family with all her heart. She touched many lives with her kindness and compassion. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Schwarz is preceded in death by her sisters, Denny Mullis, Lynette Partain, brother-in-law, Roger Oglesby, and stepfather, C.F. Hatcher.

Marie was a graduate of Screven High School class of 1966 in Screven, GA, where she was voted "wittiest in her class". Marie also completed two years of trade school. She also worked in the Civil Service at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA, where she met her future husband, Bill.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, William "Bill" Schwarz of Ellijay, GA; children and their spouses, Jenny (Eric) Crowley of Talking Rock, GA, Rebecca (Adam) Hall of Ellijay, GA, Betsy Schwarz of Murphy, N.C., Nathan McArthur of Vero Beach, FL, and Glenn Griffis of Screven, GA; siblings, Patsy (Brian) Wilbur, Mary Ann (Gary) Flowers, Shannon (Nell) Wimpey, Larry (Dott) Wimpey, and Debra Oglesby all of Screven, GA and brother-in-law Glen Mullis; grandchildren, Bryan, Dawson, Koby, Samuel, Abigail, Erin, Liam, and Nola, and two great-granddaughters, Aubree and Oliver also survive.

A traditional service will not be held, but rather an intimate celebration of her life in a place that's been very special to our family for years.
