Mrs. Martha Cason Whitworth, age 87 of Ellijay, passed away on Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at the Manor Lake of Ellijay.

Martha was born on June 6th, 1936 in Warren County to the late John H. Cason and the late Elizabeth Harrell Cason. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ellijay and a school teacher for many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitworth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Marion C. Whitworth; two sisters, Betty Cason May and Pansy Cason Rogers; and brother, Jamie Cason.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws, Darryl (Julie) Whitworth and Andy (Sheila) Whitworth; six grandchildren, Wesley (Danielle) Whitworth, Thomas (Jesse) Whitworth, Cody Whitworth, Caleb (Kaitlyn) Whitworth, Emma Whitworth, and Ethan Whitworth; one great-grandchild, Aspen Rose Whitworth; and nephew, Larry (Kim) May also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 17th, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Fields and Rev. Scott Chastain officiating. Interment will follow in the Yukon Cemetery. The following gentlemen will be serving as pallbearers: Wesley Whitworth, Thomas Whitworth, Cody Whitworth, Caleb Whitworth, Ethan Whitworth, and Mark Washam.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16th, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family respectfully asks that no food or flowers be brought to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International or Samaritan Purse in memory of Mrs. Martha Whitworth.
